Letters and photographs, ca.1941-1950.

Colette writes to "cher ami" announcing the completion of Le Pur et l'Impur, noting that it is "truffe" of new material. On the bottom of the page her third husband, Maurice Goudeket, writes to "cher monsieur et ami" (both n.d., ca. 1941) elaborating and explaining that the textual changes justify the title "edition definitive" and retitling of the original text, Ces Plaisirs, which he urges the recipient to procure. The book, because of its frank treatment of sexuality, particularly homosexuality, had been criticized by Colette's critics. In an undated letter (envelope postmarked 31 October 1950) to Madame Georgette Chanu, Colette thanks her friend for a sketch she has done. A letter to Alfred Vallette inquires about the identity and religion of a certain writer, "Stany." Also, includes a photograph of Colette and Goudeket, and of Colette and her dog.
